Guest Reviews of The Eton Hotel Shanghai
Please just stay as you are. Do not change anything. You are perfect like this. Your staff at Guest Relatuom/Concierge Mr.Roy is so kind and helpful. He helped so much to arrange train ticket and trasportation. He is really great. Also I remark courtesy of staff in breakfast lounge, Mr.Steven the chief of breakfast service remembered I like double expresso served in large cup and served me a perfect expresso. All staff in Hotel is great. I wrote this also on Tripadvisor.
As usual the service is excellent and the staff in the executive lounge is very service minded.Totally satisfied with my stay and I will do my best to recommend The Eton Hotel to colleagues and other relations.
Good: Very friendly Staff. Efficient room service. Quality of room.
One of my favourite hotels from around the world. Stay as per usual excellent.
If your staff say welcome back or something to make me feel I am recognized by your staff, then I feel very comfortable. Because I stay at your hotel every month.
Over all, I'm very happy with the hotel. However, one thing I would like to tell you is that the quality of breakfast has deteriorated due to less selections before. I hope you'll fix it up quickly and I'll see you guys soon. Thank you very much for taking care of me properly.
William Fu and Silvia Wang in the executive floor always make this a great experience. More people like them.
The Eton Hotel provides anything you could expect from an upscale business hotel for reasonable prices. I have stayed here multiple times and had different rooms and types, but all the rooms are clean and taken care off. Most bathrooms have a glass wall to separate the bathroom from the bedroom and a tv for when you are relaxing in the bathtub. The swimming pool is very nice and so is the gym. The e-bar on the fourth floor is nice, but very quiet and the prices here are over the top. The steak restaurant has great steaks, but again prices are really high. The staff is always friendly and willing to help when traveling throughout Shanghai.
The five star hotel is for people for it is really affordable. Many elements are good although it is not extremely luxury. Eton is also good for business activities and we often used. It is not far from the financial area so that many banks or companies like to use this hotel for business arrangement. Good value. It will not disappoint you if you choose.
I was invited to the Eton Hotel as a guest and it took me pleasantly by surprise. The warm welcome at reception, the introduction to the Executive Lounge on the 38th Floor and the impressive view across the city. The service was good, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive and the complimenting buffet well presented.
Thank you to my friends, the Reverend, Jeff and our host, Dave for the hospitality and the opportunity to experience a different part of Shanghai, one I wouldn't of normally ventured out to. I enjoyed the experience and will look forward to returning soon.
I thoroughly enjoy my stay. I find this hotel very thoughtful and pays attention to all details.
Everything in the room is simply wonderful!
Toilet is perfect with proper sections for bath tub (+TV! ), shower cubicle and wc cubicle. It is also complemented with extensive arrays of toiletries.
Writing desk has a writing toolbox and complete stationery (+stapler and more!).
Beddings are comfortable.
Wifi is good.
Breakfast is sumptuous and good spread.
Hotel is tastefully decorated and even on room floor.
Overall experience is wonderful and desirable.
A sure bet for return stay.
Got it @a very affordable rate thru expedia. A very nice hotel with magnificent pudong view.
I stayed in executive room for 3 nights when I was in shanghai in mid October.
Room is furnished with a big comfortable king bed, and ipod docker,
With big lcd TV . bathroom hv separate bath tub and rain shower with bvlgary shower amenities.
The club level serves very nice food, basically you can just hv your meals @ the club and enjoy with the nice ambience especially during thier happy hour.
I have been in China over 6-years and have lived in many hotels all over China and I have to say that we always come back to the Eton when we come into Shanghai . For their great guest hospitality and service to my family. The staff from Mr. Davy to Mr. Hua and Mr. Sirko from the management side who always make sure all details of my stay are prepared before my arrival. The restaurant manager Steven is always making sure the food is of the highest quality. The bell staff Richard always makes sure that if we need anything from taxi to items from outside that he and his team are there to support my family
My daughter of 3yrs loves and enjoys when we come to the Eton. They treat my family as one of their own.
Nice business hotel with friendly staff and good management. I do stay at the Eton 4-5 times a year since they opened.
I do recommend the steak house on 4th floor as well as the Super-Bowl rstaurant near the lobby for "easy" food.
I stayed in this hotel for over 4 months. The food at 5th floor is really nice. The transportation is also very convenient. The swimming pool is relative big and standardized. The price is also acceptable.
Good: 1. Constant attention to details by Resident Manager, Sirko Otto. 2. Beautiful design 3. Great location!
The stay was made more enjoyable by the hard work of the Resident Manager, Sirko Otto. Herr Otto is a consummate professional in the hospitality industry and no doubt will continue to climb in his industry.
So I've traveled to China a half dozen times now, and while I have stayed in hotels in the big cities as good as the Eton, I haven't stayed in any that were nicer. Its a high rise for sure. Its on the corner of two busy intersections, with the M subway immediately across the street to make it handy.
The room was just the right size, the bed comfortable, the pillows soft, the bathroom and shower roomy. In room safe was good size, nice sized LCD TV. View from my room of the river, although it was more the industrial area so not that fantastic of a sight. Still, pretty cool lit up at night. The room was also very quite, I don't think I heard the first bit of noise from outside the room, adjacent rooms, or from outside (but I was on the 29th floor.. so).
The staff was friendly, the main Cafe (buffet) was good... even for a "westerner". The hotel was very clean, nicely appointed. Even the elevator area on each floor had like a waiting area with couches, art, etc.
So you can probably pay more, might be able to pay less... but hard to imagine how you'd get better.
I travel at least twince a month both in the US and China. This was the first time I stayed in Eton last week. The room was clean and quiet, riverview, very friendly and helpful staffs, food was very good at all their restautants (I stayed there whole week long). The only thing might be a concern was the location if you have to go to downtown during the rush hours. Otherwise, 15 minutes driving you should be able to get most major areas in Shanghai. I'll definitely book this hotel again.
I have stayed at the Eton a number of times over past few years. It's a very comfortable hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. The location works for my business needs, however if you are looking for access to restaurants, shopping or tourist attractions this is perhaps not the right hotel for you. You will need to take taxis to access these attractions.
One very nice thing about the location is the proximity to the river. With a very short walk, there is a walking path along the river which is great for an early morning fun - note: there are a few sections where you must go off the path to get around a boat mooring and several buildings that protrude into the path but it is a very pleasant place to run.
The rooms are comfortable - good beds, relatively good lighting, wi fi signal was acceptable.
One note: ambience seems to be very important to the management of the Eton. The corridors on the room floors are beautiful - very wide, nice art -the downside is that the lighting in the corridors when you get the to rooms is very dim - some might find this a little uncomfortable.
Breakfasts are expensive and definitely not as good as most business hotels I've stayed at in China. The low end Eton Cafe on the 3rd floor has a reasonable seafood buffet, and an inexpensive a la carte menu. The Chicago Steak House of the 4th floor is a little pricey but a nice restaurant.
The gymnasium is small but adequate - on this recent trip several of the treadmills were out of order - get there early if you want guaranteed access to a machine.
Staff at the Eton have always been great - very friendly.
I've stayed here a few times now over the past couple of years and have always left with a good impression. The room service food I have eaten has always been nice - prices are typical of a normal 5 star in China.
Breakfast is good, plenty of choice of western and Chinese food.
For my last trip I took advantage of a special offer and was upgraded to the executive floor - very impressed with the room. Large, bright and very comfortable. I've stayed at the Marriot Courtyard in Shanghai, but it is not as good as the Eton in my opinion.
We stayed for 5 nights at the hotel Eton, it was a really positive experience. My colleague and I are both vegetarians and were worried about eating in China. I have to say the hotel had great restaurants which catered for our needs well and at a fair price.
The rooms were luxurious and well maintained. Staff and professional and courteous. I spent many happy hours in the lobby sipping tea. Location is good being close to the metro. My only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is the spa area, which is a little on the pricey side. I booked an hours massage at an agreed price, but the masseur was determined to up sell me to a 2 hour treatment. Not a problem, but worth bearing in mind if you are using the spa.
I will happily return to the hotel Eton and recommend to anyone.
Stayed here two nights in room 3708. Even though this is a nonsmoking floor you should avoid it. Right above you is the executive lounge and so smoke comes in via the passers by and sometimes the room vent. We ate ate at the Chicago Steak House one night. Truly and excellent meal but PRICEY! Overall service was excellent. The front desk is always overwhelmed though so I didn't feel like queuing to change rooms. The metro station is across the street so perfect for getting out and exploring the city.
nice big rooms, easy to get to pudong financial lujiazui district. breakfast is nice. service is good. lobby cafe has good tea n macarons. good for pudong business trip. better value than most bigger city's international chain hotel.
This was an absolutely excellent experience. We were taken care of even before we arrived. They made sure that our pick ups at the airport were confirmed and when we arrived, the check in process was friendly and expedient.
The rooms are vey well appointed with very nice bathrooms with separate a shower and bathtub. The beds are very comfortable and they supply you enough pillows. The selection of TV Channels is a little limited for an international traveler but the workout facilities and spa are make up for that. If your time allows you should spend some time in the gym and pool area to help reenergize yourself. With a twenty-five meter pool you can get in a very nice swim.
The restaurant selection is very good and I would definitely suggest making a stop at The Chicago Steak House. Not only is the food excellent but the service is attentive, efficient and very warm and inviting. We are very exciting to return and try the set menu the next time we are there.
The location is nice. You are very close to the river, so if you want to take a nice stroll, the river is only a short walk away from the hotel.
All in all, an excellent hotel!
The Eton has excellent service, in my experience, and is a great weekend escape. The rooms are comfortable, have wonderful showers and tubs, and many have good views of the city or the Huangpu river. Their breakfast spread is plentiful and varied, and the executive floor lounge, should one stay there, is a very good deal: cocktails, hors d'oerves, desserts, and free coffee throughout the day. Room service is well-prepared and abundant. The swimming pool is large, relaxing, and often almost empty. Though slightly out of the way - not on line 2 - the Eton is right next to a subway stop - line 4 at Pudong Avenue.
The only draw back is that the in-house restaurants (other than the very good breakfast buffet) are pricey and hit or miss. But the service, the comfort, and the affordability, plus relatively easy access to the many offerings of Lujiazui with its shops and restaurans more than make-up for its few shortcomings.
I have stayed in this hotel several times at various trips to Shanghai. Rooms are spacious, modern furniture, good gym, bf contains everything I need and the metro is in walking distance. And all at an unbeatable rate.
I want to take time out to thank Guest relation Manager Samantha and Front Desk Manager Mr. Mike as well as Mr Sirko and all of the staff who helped my wife with the injury to my daughter during my stay at the Eton. They supported my wife to the hospital and stayed with her until I could arrive. I want to thank General Manager Luc Bollen for your continued support and striving to make sure my stay is enjoyable. I have stayed many times at the Eton for business as well as pleasure and will say that I'm happy with every part of the hotel. I would suggest this hotel for business as well as pleasure
This hotel is located on the Pudong side of the river. Nice view to the high rises at night. Top notch amenities in room! TV above bath tub which is separated by glass wall from bedroom, separate shower, separate w.c. and mircrofridge with reasonably priced drinks and snacks. While there isn't much within immediate walking distance, it is a quick cab ride to the towers, oriental towers,malls,etc... Would definitely recommend to all looking for excellent quality/service without paying prices of those closer to waterfront (i.e. Ritz)
This is a very nice hotel in Pudong, close to the river. It's not super close to the center and there aren't a lot of good dining options right next door, but you could walk to some if you want. When I visited, there was a doorman, "Ricky" who lived in the U.S. for a year and was super friendly. He was a hoot. The hotel has this incredible sculpture of running horses in the lobby. It's so good I thought it should be in a museum. One funny thing - in the lobby and hallways before you get to the room, the hotel plays this version of Muzak which is sort of a symphonized version of scores to American movies -- like Harry Potter and The Godfather. I got a kick out of that.
Having read previous "mixed" reviews of this hotel I checked in not sure what I was going to experience. I have to say that I found the staff for all depts excellent, I experience great service, a can do attitude and a willingness to help. This is a great business hotel which for the room cost provides excellent value for money and whilst there is not much to do around the hotel a short journey by metro or taxi will provide many choices!
This is a great business hotel with excellent rooms, great views, an unbelievable breakfast variety, a good bar with good life music. I've really enjoyed my stay for 3nights and everything was perfect. He only thing I would expect to be different is the Internet. Connection was unstable and charging for Internet in a hotel of this price category is a bit off - broadband Internet should be included.
